Blog 19 | Yorkshire Wildlife Park
This month we have decided to try a quick blog about one of our day trips out. We did see cats so there is a reason for it.
Having a small child that loves animals generally means that every school half term/holidays we end up visiting some type of zoo, animal sanctuary, wildlife park etc.
This February was no different so we decided to make the journey over to Doncaster to visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Resort. We were not disappointed!
We stayed the night before our visit to the park in the Hex Hotel which is part of the Hive complex. They even have some park view rooms! (due to our last minute booking, these had already been fully booked up - definitely next time).
We had breakfast in the bar then headed out early to ensure we got to see the whole site. The park opened at 9.45 and we needed that early start to get around it all! Obviously we wanted to see all the big cats, which there are plenty here but there were some other animals that we were all really excited to catch a glimpse of. The park had recently seen the birth of two baby hyena's so we were lucky to see the mother and the cubs out.

Another rare siting for us were the polar bears. These are something you would not believe you would see here in the UK. It is one of only three places, and is currently housing 6 large bears. It is only when you see them in the flesh that you realise how big they are.

At the wildlife park they have a variety of large cats. There are the African lions, the Amur and Siberian tigers, Cheetahs and the Amur leopards. All have vast areas replicating their native landscape to roam around in making it more than a zoo.

The last animal we were pleased to see were the giraffes. These did not disappoint and are always fascinating to see up close. These are definitely a favourite for us.

Upon leaving (just before closing at 17.00 - long day), we were so impressed by the set up, variety of animals and whole experience that we decided to become annual members. This was due to a great offer and good enough reason to come back.
We highly recommend a visit here! So we may bump into you next time.
Until next month. 😽
Purrfect regards
